## Position Summary
Electronic / Electrical Technician position includes the repairing and maintenance of the assigned vessel?s electrical and electronic equipment.
## Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for operational readiness of Electronic and Electrical equipment including Dynamic Positioning System and Control System, operational checks and maintenance. Informing the Master and Chief Engineer immediately of any maintenance due or major fault in systems.
Responsible for operational checks and maintenance of ancillary navigation, radio / satellite communications, radars, internal communications, electrical / electronics equipment.
Assists with troubleshooting of propulsion drive systems, SCR, AC/DC power distribution systems, generators, switchboards and general shipboard electrical equipment. Also, responsible for electrical work and emergency generator batteries. He will maintain the vessel?s electrical distribution system. He will inspect all new electrical equipment brought onboard the vessel for safety. He will maintain the vessel?s fire and smoke alarm and detection systems. Provide assistance to other departments as required with the care and repair of electronic navigational equipment and communications equipment. Maintain / repair electrical power generation equipment. Assist with installation of temporary equipment, such as lighting and power supply for work on deck.
Will make general repairs to shipboard electrical systems and take meggar readings as directed by the Chief Engineer.
Ensures that Master and Chief Engineer is informed of any Third Party maintenance or repairs due as per Manufacturer?s recommendations.
Submit weekly reports as an appendices to the Vessel Weekly Deficiency Report detailing major/minor faults, trends and outstanding issues / supplies. Submits weekly E.T. reports to Master, Chief Engineer, and Marine Operations.
Maintain an E.T. workshop with sufficient tools and consumables onboard.
Maintains inventory of spares and orders as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Member of Shipboard Emergency Response Team.
## Qualifications
REQUIRED
High School diploma orGeneral Education Degree (GED) is required. Vocational training is preferred.
Five (5) years minimum related experience.
Vessel experience in the Gulf of Mexico within the oil and gas industry is preferred.
Knowledge of SMS shipboard procedures.
Merchant Mariner?s Credential
USCG Medical Certificate
STCW-95 (Standard Training and Watch Keeping Certification) with RFEW (Rate Forming Part of an Engineering Watch) endorsement.
SafeGulf experience.
Valid Passport
Valid Driver?s License.
Valid TWIC card.
Security Clearance preferred / Able to pass a security clearance

Outdoors and indoors, day and night, as well as over/near water.
Requires working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.

Potential exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
Constant exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
Work surface is stable, height is elevated.
